Required Knowledge & Skills
The successful candidate should have:
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania child care licensing regulations and DHS requirements.
- Working knowledge of Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts requirements.
- Working knowledge of Keystone STARS and Pennsylvania's early childhood quality standards.
- Knowledge of early childhood education and child development.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and positive behavior guidance.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and coach employees.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate professionally with children, families, staff, licensing representatives, and community partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Education & Experience
- Degree or credential in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred, as applicable to Pennsylvania requirements.
- Previous experience working in a licensed child care or early learning setting required.
- Previous supervisory or administrative experience preferred.
- Experience with Pre-K Counts and/or Keystone STARS strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Pennsylvania DHS child care licensing requirements preferred.
- Must meet all applicable Pennsylvania requirements for the position, including required clearances, background checks, health documentation, and professional development.

Position Expectations
The Director is expected to serve as a positive role model for all employees and to maintain a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the center's practices align with Pennsylvania regulations, Pre-K Counts requirements, Keystone STARS expectations, and the center's policies and procedures.
